I loved my luxurious two-night stay at Kruger Gate Hotel. the location is amazing, just a stone's throw away from the Kruger Gate. the staff were friendly and very helpful. the Lapa restaurant was a highlight for me, with its open-air setting and delicious buffet-style dinners. I also enjoyed spending time at the lobby bar.

The hotel staff were very friendly and approachable.
On the first night, the linen, particularly the pillows had cigarete odour.

The location was best possible and the free parking was outside. A shopping centre and a market were right next door. Got double room with shower when arrived, loved that.

Friendly staff and beautiful scenery.
Air conditioning in our room didn't work (Room 256). We arrived to a room -with only one small towel and one bath towel even though we booked it for 2 adults and 2 children. Complained at reception where after we only received one more bath towel?? Restaurant struggled to handle the large amount of guests for dinner. We were busy with dessert before they cleared any plates off the table.

Because it's at the actual gate to KNP its like staying at a camp inside the park and dawn/dusk game drives are easily taken from the hotel.
During our 6 night stay breakfast and dinner were included. The food quality at the hotel was very poor! They did have variety but it was more like pub food. They have an issue with hygene. The breakfast tables were set the night before and are outdoors. Cuttlery was left out overnight? Bird life and monkeys frequented the tables for scraps. The worst case was when we found a maggot on the brie cheese at the morning buffet, which they removed after we pointed it out to them. We visited in September 2010. We really do hope they will improve the food quality at Protea Kruger Gate because everything else in the hotel is great and the location is fabulous.

The room was air conditioned, a nice size, and I really enjoyed it.

I was close to Kruger Gate and the shower had good water pressure.
Our rooms were horrible!! Stains and holes in the ceiling was what we looked at every night before we went to bed. Our patio door would not shut entirely and left a 3-inch gap that let the cold air in at night and the deadbolt on the patio door litterally came off in our hands!! And the bellman argued with me when I did not want him to take my bags.
